About Us

A little school with a very big heart

Little Orchid Pre-School & Day Care is a neighbourhood preschool in Dakshinpara, Kolkata, built for children aged 2 to 6 and for the parents who trust us with them.

Our Story

Started by parents, for parents

Little Orchid began with a simple observation: families around Dakshinpara, Satgachi and Baguiati wanted a preschool that felt like an extension of home — small, personal and genuinely joyful — without giving up on real learning.

We keep our batches deliberately small so that teachers know every child's temperament, appetite, friendships and fears. Our classrooms are bright and low-shelved so children can choose their own materials, and our day care runs through the afternoon for working parents across North Kolkata.

Today, children from Dum Dum Park, Deshbandhu Nagar and the Kolkata Airport area spend their first school years with us — painting, singing, counting, questioning and blooming at their own pace.

Vision & Mission

What we are working towards

Our Vision

To be the preschool in North Kolkata where every child discovers that learning feels like play, and every parent feels completely at ease.

Our Mission

To nurture confident, curious and kind children through activity-based learning, small batches, safe surroundings and honest partnership with families.

Teaching Philosophy

Learning through play — because it works

Between ages 2 and 6 the brain builds faster than at any other time. What children do with their hands, voices and bodies becomes how they think later.

Why Preschool Matters

The first school years shape language, attention, self-control and social confidence — the real foundation for formal schooling.

Learning Through Play

Counting beads, sorting colours, retelling stories and building towers teach maths, literacy and logic without a single worksheet drill.

Personal Attention

With small batches we adapt the pace for each child, and share honest, regular progress notes with parents.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the campus safe and supervised?

The campus is gated with CCTV in classrooms and corridors, a child-safe play area, and a strict pick-up policy — children are released only to a parent or a pre-authorised adult.

Are the teachers formally trained?

Yes. Our teachers hold early-childhood teaching qualifications and are refreshed every year in first aid, child psychology and play-based teaching methods.

How do you keep parents updated?

Parents receive daily notes for younger batches, a WhatsApp group for announcements, photo updates from activities and a one-to-one parent–teacher meeting each term.
